Artist’s
Statement
I consider fibre my language, replete with nuances, idioms and
metaphors. Narrative is a primary focus as many of my works are
produced as elements in a series. I invite the viewer to consider the
before and after implied in my images and I strive to make a close
connection between materials and ideas.
My BFA in Visual Arts and an MA in Liberal Studies from Simon Fraser
University have given me a wide-angle lens with which to view the world
and a fascination for the ongoing research that also informs my work. I
exhibit, give talks and workshops, volunteer, write professionally on
the arts, and teach as a sessional instructor at the Emily Carr
Institute of Art and Design.
