Handweaving has been a journey of experimentation and discovery since 1993. Mainly self-taught, Kate has learned from several accomplished weavers who have provided inspiration along the way, especially Kay Sekimachi, Liz Williamson and Catherine Ellis.
In 2004, Kate joined the Silk Weaving Studio on Granville Island, Vancouver, where five years of creative inspiration were spent with four other weavers learning the discipline of small scale production.
Looking to enrich her knowledge of textile techniques and build a better design foundation, Kate enrolled in the Advanced Textile Certificate program at Capilano University in the Fall of 2008. She is currently working towards a completion of the Certificate while continuing to work from her home studio.
