Artist’s
Statement
There are several threads
that run through my imagery. I am
concerned with humanity and its relationship to the environment and to
itself. I am concerned with the loss of our sense of who we are and how
we fit into our world.
Recently, my images have
become more demanding. I am weaving
adults out of touch with their environment, each other, and themselves.
I am also exploring how we alter reality to fit private visions;
whether it is how we remember the past to make it more romantic or how
we imagine the future to make it more palatable.
Tapestry is a deceptively
enticing medium. By first enticing the
viewer with the tactile beauty of the yarns, then with the image
itself, and then with the message behind the image, I hope to engender
a dialogue, to make the viewer pause for a moment and contemplate the
ideas.
