Artist’s Bio
Fused glass pieces are created by firing glass in the kiln for an
extended period of
time at 1450 degrees F. This heating softens the sharp edges creating
soft and gentle shapes and it also fuses the pieces of glass to each
other. When they are fused on a bed of sand the carving created in the
sand transfers magically to the glass. The result is a soft but
reflective quality of glass and only glass. This process is ideal for
unique wall hangings, windows, wall dividers, screens, tiles, tables
and cupboard doors. If a bowl or candle curve is required the glass is
fired a second time to slump it into the desired shape. Fused glass is
best displayed with sunlight or backlighting.
