What is valuable and what is not? The found materials that Barbara comes across, often in unexpected places, are the inspiration for her creations whether they be jewellery, figures, sculpture, or collage.

Her affinity for stones and other found objects account for their abundance in her studio. With this wealth of materials she begins to play, create and design.

Confronting the technical challenges that each piece presents is the next step in the process. The seemingly simple requires ingenuity and further creativity. Although often frustrated when answers are elusive, it is a part of her work she enjoys and looks forward to solving.

Regardless of the medium or size, her work has always expressed her love for combining and juxtaposing elements in three dimensional space.
