Susan Cain

Artist’s Bio

Susan Cain started her education at New York University, and then went on to study art at Fiberworks and
Pacific Basin Textiles, North Island College, and Emily Carr Institute of Art & Design. She began showing
her work in 1983, at a variety of different shows in Canada and the United States.

Susan's work is influenced by her childhood, which was spent playing with dolls. "Dressing and undressing
them, putting words into their mouths."
Her work is imaginative, low-tech, and resilient, yet full of character. Susan continues to be innovative in
designing her works of art, from Christmas decorations to puppets.

Susan Cain now resides on Hornby Island, British Columbia.
