Patricia Balsor

Artist’s Bio

Patricia attended the Clay and Textile Art Program at Capilano College where she became interested in working
with paper pulp. She liked this particular medium because it is malleable and forgiving. It also provides a good
painting surface to explore colours and patterns.

After first producing masks and sun faces, Patricia is now creating wonderfully whimsical female figures.
These "goddesses" are full of joy, confident, proud of their bodies, they embrace life.

The process of creation is simple. Using commercially prepared pulp, the sculptures are first molded over torso
molds. After drying, they are refined, coated with acrylic gesso for strength, then painted and finished with two
coats of varnish for durability.

Patricia Balsor lives on Salt Spring Island. She has participated in many exhibitions and craft shows.
