NANCY ADAMS

Artists' Bios

Nancy was born in New Westminster, BC and has been a fibre artist all of her life.  A trip to the Orient, after completing university, led her to a love of exotic fabrics.  A fashion career followed which entailed production in Hong Kong, Bali and Brazil. A love of the hands-on, one-of-a-kind and recycling brought her back to transforming new and used clothing, scraps and waste into something of beauty and function.

Nancy lives on Hornby Island where the inspiration and resources are endless.

The egg lanterns are paper mache; formed from recycled clothing paper patterns (some as old as the 1920’s) or recycled fabrics, painted with glue and water as a hardener and fire retardant. The adornment and nests are gathered from nature. The candleholders are found at the Hornby Island recycling depot – a haven of resource

Care: please keep dry. If bent or crumpled, just gently push back into shape. To change the candle gently tip the egg and slide the holder out and repeat to settle the holder back in. Balance the egg so that the candle is lined up with the opening. They all have their own normal resting spot. Do not leave the candle unattended.
