Bios
My work is narrative, fuelled by the notion of heirloom. I am strongly influenced by personal stories, peripheral details, and imperfectly beautiful things. Stories are gathered and layered from a myriad of personal experiences: fragments of love letters, sheet music, photographs, maps mementoes and found treasures.
My formal education in drawing, printmaking and ceramics was at Emily Carr, followed by an apprenticeship on Saltspring Island, BC. The imagery is applied with underglazes, utilizing various printmaking techniques. Porcelain is my preferred medium. Strong and smooth, I also love its rich history.
Vessels as memoirs, which capture specific moments, vessels as allegories: these pieces are intended to be touched and lived with, for continuing generations.
