Boyd
Artist’s Bio
Boyd began making pottery in
1970, in Sweden. While there he worked with several talented potters
and taught ceramics while exhibiting in galleries and museums.
Over time, the Scandinavian influence melded with an Asian aesthetic
leading to his signature work of classic simplicity. Boyd is interested
in creating beautiful forms that transcend all cultures than in
creating something unique.
In the past his work was associated with more subtle glazes such as
Shino, Temmoku and Celadon. Since 2002, his traditional forms have been
the playground for explorations into crystalline glazing. This
relatively new glazing process which involves growing zinc-silicate
crystals in the glaze at high temperatures is often avoided by other
potters because of the difficulties inherent in the process.
Boyd lives on Galiano Island in British Columbia
